COLUMBIA COLLEGE JUNE 2010

The Columbia College community stepped up to help Haiti recover from the horrific earthquake that hit the country on January 12, 2010.  In a generous display of support, Columbia College faculty and staff contributed $8,600 to a fund set up specifically to help the town of Petit-Goave, the hometown of Carolle Voltaire, a counselor and instructor in Columbia’s Upward Bound Program. Members of the faculty and staff also contributed untold amounts directly to relief agencies.

Carolle would like to express her deep gratitude for the help provided by the Columbia College community to her hometown and to her country.  She reports that things are slowly getting better, though much still needs to be done.  Carolle, and her family, appreciate the heartfelt support of our community, and will keep us updated on the progress in Petit-Goave.
